To be honest there are always consequences for transgressions such as these. The doorway for opportunities do not always stay open. They close and new ones will open. These new ones may not be "ideal" but it's possible to live through them. God does this with us all the time. So in this case, he cannot be priest anywhere. He must find a new profession. Does this mean he will not be allowed to step into any church building? Of course not. All sinners are welcome.
The emergence of such a high frequency of gay priests doesn't surprise me. I'd probably say 50% of priests are gay, but they want to try and sacrifice their sexuality for God aka live a life holy and appeasing to God. I applaud for them that, but they are failing pretty hard. I'm wondering where in the world are their accountability partners, because something needs to change about these frequent occurrences.
It is true they struggle with lust like you and I though, but it's acting out on these urges that isn't right. They can never marry someone of the same sex, while still carrying their crosses daily (it's not Biblical). I don't understand why these people are putting out that he's a good person, because it's situational (we're all good and bad people) and being a Christian was never about being a good person. Good people can be the furthest from God.
